Wormhole Gallery and Studio

26B College Road, Edgecumbe

About Wormhole

Wormhole is a gallery and studio run by Jordan Davey-Emms (Pākehā) in Edgecumbe, Aotearoa. The gallery is nestled inside a lockwood mall near the banks of the Rangitaiki River on Ngāti Awa whenua.

The idea with Wormhole is to establish a structure that serves the artists we work with and welcomes the community in. Wormhole strives to create a friendly environment for talking about and experiencing art. This is a place where ideas can be explored, supported, shared and recorded, where artists are paid, and where criticality and independence are possible. The goal is to offer an experimental platform for challenging, exciting art in the Whakatāne District.

Exhibitions are currently arranged by invitation. We hope to release a formal call for proposals later in 2022. Wormhole is particularly interested in showing work that connects with the theme “earthly bodies” this year and look forward to the ideas this may bring in!
