We offer a range of Fishing Charters and Land Based Activities around the Eastern Bay of Plenty including inshore fishing trips at Whakatohea Mussel Farm or the Rurima Islands. We also offer surfcasting fishing adventures as well as long lining and land based adventures for groups up to 30.

Inshore Fishing Charters

Full & Half Day Fishing Charters

Pacific Coast Adventures offers half and full day fishing charters aboard Te Kaha Katt II a 7 meter aluminium catamaran. Our local knowledge and experience will bring you to some hot spots in the area such as; Rurima Islands, Whakatohea Mussel Farm and Motuhora (Whale Island). Being on board a catamaran provides you with a comfortable journey and a stable fishing deck, we also have a toilet available for your convenience. Groups of 2-6 for fishing charters.

6 Hours Fishing at Whakatohea Mussel Farm – $750

Fishing rod hire, tackle, bait and ice are provided at $25 pp

Rock Fishing

Rock Fishing is an affordable way of learning the ropes of fishing and with a little bit of local knowledge a great way to catch some good fish. Pacific Coast Adventures has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to all things fishing and of course knows all the local hot spots. Species we often catch Rock Fishing are King Fish, Trevally, Snapper, Kahawai and Gurnard.

Long Lining

Long Lining is a great way of reaping the benefits of offshore fishing without using a boat. Pacific Coast Adventures Torpedo LongLine is an electric Kontiki. Our Torpedo Kontiki is to be launched in knee deep water; it will then power your line and hook out to sea and act as a float for your line. Operated by an easy to use toggle switch and being timer controlled you get to sit back and relax. Our Kontiki can be launched almost anywhere from Matata to Waiotahi. Common species that are caught on the Long Line are Kahawai, King Fish, Snapper, Trevally and Gurnard.

Surf Casting

The art of surf-casting is knowing the right spot. Pacific Coast Adventures will take you to the best Surf Casting spots between Matata and Waiotahi ensuring you have the best opportunity to catch some great fish. New Zealand has 15,811km (9,824 miles) of coastline and we the general public have surfcasting access to the majority of it, it only makes sense to make the most of what New Zealand has to offer.

Shellfish Gathering

Shellfish gathering is a great way to explore the New Zealand coastline. Pacific Coast Adventures will guide you to find shellfish like Tuatua (cockles), Mussels, Pipi and Kina
