The community’s arts and culture hub, Te Kōputu a Te Whanga a Toi, opened in June 2012. The centre hosts the Horizon Energy Group Library Whakatāne, the Whakatāne District Museum display and three gallery spaces.

The Horizon Energy Group Library Whakatāne offers free Wi-Fi, self-checkout, after-hours returns, comfortable places for reading and research, and interactive opportunities for young people.

The Centre’s Museum display offers engaging experiences with stories and taonga (treasures) of the Whakatāne District.
