CASTILLO Gwendoline (Gwen) nee Gault — On Wednesday 20th May 2026 peacefully at Thornton Park Retirement Village, Opotiki, surrounded by family. Loving mother of Alida. Adored Grandma of Gwendoline and husband Fernando. Much loved aunt of Vivienne and Don, Naomi and Mark, Graham and Anne, Ivan (dec) and Charmaine, and Cheryl and Mark. Loved dearly by her great-niece and nephews. Gwen’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the staff at Thornton Park for the wonderful love, kindness, and compassionate care given to her throughout her time with them. Their warmth, patience and dedication brought great comfort not only to Gwen, but also to our entire family. We would also like to sincerely acknowledge the exceptional carers at Te Puna Ora o Mataatua for the outstanding care, support, and dignity they provided. Their compassion and commitment will always be deeply appreciated and remembered with gratitude. A celebration of Gwendoline's life was held on Monday 25th of May in the Chapel of Willetts Funeral Services, 21 King Street, Whakatane, followed by private cremation.
