Level 4 and 5 raranga toi tuira (weaving) students at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa in Kawerau are preparing to share their creations in an upcoming exhibition.
Toi Exhibition Kawerau will feature work by 15 students, with a range of traditional and contemporary weaving on display, including kete whakairo, kete kupenga, kete pīngao, pake, papa and pōtae.
Student Davina Hudson said visitors could expect to see a wide variety of work.
She said the students had also been invited to take part in the Whakatāne’s campus’ upcoming wearable raranga show – taking place on Tuesday night, November 3, at the Whakatāne campus from 6pm-8pm at 8 Te Tahi Street, Whakatāne.
“We will also have some of those entries at our exhibition,” said Hudson.
The Kawerau exhibition runs from Monday, November 9, to Friday, November 13, from 10am to 2pm daily at the wānanga campus, 16-18 Islington Street.
