Letter: Vote for change - nothing has changed

.

The Labour leader says we should vote for change, which is what we did at the last election to get rid of the Labour Coalition Government.

If you think things will get better just because Labour has a new leader who wants to borrow more money to increase the country’s debt, paid for with more taxes, nothing has changed except the Labour leader – and leopards do not change their spots.

The National Coalition Government is not responsible for the cost of living crisis or the cost of petrol and diesel crisis; it is a global crisis that we all have to endure for now.

There is no quick fix, so better will not start now. Right now, what is needed is a Government that shows fiscal restraint during these tough times.

For over 70 years, I have seen a massive rise in the cost of living and there is nothing any Government can do to stop this as demand for food grows, along with a growing world population.

This means people have to get smarter and learn how to save money, something that is not encouraged by the left-leaning Labour coalition opposition.

A capital gains tax will fail because it applies only to people who make a capital gain and many are not, and people who do will leave the country and jobs will be lost.

Real positive change would be to reduce the number of MPs in parliament by bringing back First Past the Post because unless coalition parties all agree on a promise or a bottom line, chances are that it will never happen.

I believe the National Coalition have done a great job turning our country around, reversing all the foolish things the Labour Coalition did, but they will need another term to finish the job.

The National Coalition believes we are one country, New Zealand, we are one people, Kiwis. One law for all New Zealanders. Everyone to be treated equal. Māori ceded sovereignty to the crown.

Would like to wind up the Waitangi Tribunal, and race is not a factor, and no more co-governance and no more Three Waters.

I believe the previous Labour Coalition government are directly responsible for creating racial division in New Zealand and wasting taxpayers’ money
