My dear wife recently successfully passed her medical and vision test for renewing her driving licence on reaching 90, only to have it delayed several weeks because of a trivial error. The optician had meant to write the restriction, “only driving within 30 kilometres of home” but, unfortunately, wrote “no”, instead of “only”.
This simple error, obvious to anyone with an ounce of common sense, was not accepted by the local agency, who shipped the problem off to head office.
One is left to wonder how my wife was expected to get to 30km from our home before she could drive her car?
We had to visit the optician and get them to rephrase the restriction, and re-submit the form again, and no-one apologised either.
