Thrifters will have extra time to browse pre-loved treasures in Kope this month, with Have A Heart Our Community Store opening its doors after hours for a new late-night shopping event.
The boutique op shop at 50 King Street will host its first Late Night Thrifting evening tomorrow from 3pm to 6.30pm, with further events planned on October 15 and 22.
Store manager Anja Kleinschmidt said the evenings were a chance to try something different and give people the opportunity to visit the store outside its usual trading hours.
“We also wanted to keep the excitement going around the store following the success of our fashion show in July,” she said.
Customers who make a purchase will be able to draw a discount card, with a range of discounts available, including the chance to receive their cheapest item free when purchasing two or more items.
There will also be a prize draw, with every purchase of $10 or more during the three evenings, putting customers in the draw to win a Russell Hobbs 8.3L air fryer.
The store is hoping the evenings will attract new customers, bring regular shoppers back, increase sales and raise awareness of what it has to offer.
“The response has been really positive,” Kleinschmidt said.
“People seem quite excited about the idea of being able to come in after our normal closing time.”
Have A Heart Our Community Store is part of the Have A Heart Charitable Trust, with profits from the store helping support the Whare Kai Affordable Pantry and provide affordable food options for local whānau.
Kleinschmidt said the community focus was an important part of the store.
“The best part is that your purchase has a purpose,” she said.
“Your money stays within the community, and profits generated are funnelled into the Whare Kai Affordable Pantry, helping provide affordable food options for people in our community and supporting families experiencing food insecurity.”
The store has a constantly changing selection of pre-loved clothing and other items, with the events offering shoppers an opportunity to browse outside the store’s usual hours.
