Eastern Bay musician Laughton Kora, pictured, has teamed up with Katchafire on a fresh version of the reggae favourite, Bounce, released today.

The collaboration features on Katchafire’s upcoming Revival 2.0 Guest Edition album, which brings together roots and reggae artists from New Zealand and overseas.

Kora said he was grateful to be invited to contribute to the project.

“It’s a real privilege to be asked to do a track man,” said Kora.

“The whole album is a timeless classic, though. So, in this version, I wanted the vocals to Bounce as well. Big love whānau …”

The guest edition follows Katchafire’s original Revival album and adds new collaborations to the group’s established roots-reggae sound.

Katchafire have been performing for more than 25 years, blending reggae rhythms with Māori influences and themes of whānau, unity and cultural identity.

The group built an international following through their recordings and live performances and continue to take their music offshore.

Following a performance at the Guidance Festival in New Caledonia on October 10, Katchafire will spend five weeks touring Australia.

The band will also tour Europe with UB40, with the Revival 2.0 Guest Edition album scheduled for release on November 27.
