Police are urging people to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity following a spate of break-ins around the CBD.

Recently, a 21-year-old man was apprehended in relation to an incident at the George Street apartments. He has appeared in court for burglary and been remanded in custody.

Senior sergeant Cam MacKinnon said the man waited for a resident to enter the apartments and “piggybacked” behind.

“Excellent assistance from a member of the public shortly after resulted in police apprehending this thief, which further highlights we can’t do it alone and are grateful for any assistance from the community.”
