Trident High School was again buzzing with house spirit last week as the annual staff-versus-students basketball series continued.
Trident Staff Globetrotters returned to the court to face students from Kara House in the second fixture of the Staff v Students Basketball House Series.
After suffering a narrow defeat to Buck House in the opening match, the staff side was determined to even the series in front of another packed and vocal crowd.
The contest began with both teams matching each other’s intensity, as Kara House brought energy, pace and determination from the opening whistle. The students kept the pressure on throughout the early stages, forcing the staff to work hard for every possession.
As the game progressed, however, Staff Globetrotters found their rhythm. Improved teamwork, accurate finishing and strong communication allowed them to gradually take control before pulling away to secure the victory.
The win levels the series and keeps the competition wide open heading into the remaining fixtures.

One of the biggest successes of the series has been the interaction between students and staff, with enthusiastic crowds creating a lively atmosphere and plenty of good-natured rivalry.
Staff Globetrotters will next face Ngata House before concluding the basketball series against Pomare House.
The friendly rivalry will continue next term, with football matches already scheduled as part of Trident High School’s expanding programme of house competitions.
With packed sidelines, enthusiastic supporters and plenty of laughs along the way, the annual Staff v Students series continues to strengthen school spirit while providing a fun opportunity for students and teachers to compete together.
