Letter: Wake-up call on fuel

.

Suzanne Williams

What an interesting and all-encompassing article ran in Friday’s Beacon centrefold, Oil, supply chains and modern life, by Victor Luca.

How many of us read it and gave it the importance it deserved, I wonder? – or dismissed it as “just another rant”?

We tend to mosey along following our chosen paths, not realising how complex and fragile our lives really are beneath the surface; when people like Dr Victor Luca come up with warnings and important statements we brush them off as scaremongering, or at least unimportant to our little lives.

Then we find out what lack of fuel really means to us when a war is started by a war-mongering nation with its own agenda; and the supply chain is badly affected.

And now are we perhaps about to find out what a lack of not only fuel, but many, many other things will mean?

I really hope not.
