Eastern Bay of Plenty Cricket Club’s rising young player, Aidan Hogg, has been recognised for his impressive development and on- field performances at the recent Bay of Plenty Cricket Association Awards.
Aidan received the Team Award, acknowledging not only his results with the bat, but also the positive attitude and commitment he brings to every game.
A student at Whakatāne High School, Aidan has just completed his second season of senior cricket. Strong performances throughout the season earned him selection for the Bay of Plenty Lakelands under-19 team.
At the Northern Districts under-19 Tournament, he made an impact with the bat, finishing as the team’s second-highest run scorer despite batting in only five of the seven matches.
Across the club 2025/26 season, Aidan scored five half centuries, including a top score of 85, while opening the batting for both the Eastern Bay of Plenty Cricket Club Men’s team and Whakatāne High School.
Club captain Hamish Wilde said Aidan’s progress had been rewarding to watch.
“It’s satisfying to see him stand up and grow into his game. He’s a role model for younger players making the step from school cricket into senior competition.”
Aidan also picked up the club’s T20 Batsman of the Year award for the 2025/26 season.
Cricket success runs in the family, with Aidan’s mother Catherine Checkley Hogg recently receiving the Allan McBride Trophy from Northern Districts Cricket, recognising her outstanding service to junior cricket in the Eastern Bay.
