Following the article in the Beacon on Wednesday, May 13, What should go here?, I love the idea of having an art gallery in the old isite building. It makes sense to use this building for the community and visitors, just as the building has always done. Its siting is iconic in our town.

I was one of the artists participating in The Artist Collective pop-up gallery for the past two summers. The response from both local artists (60 artists) and the community who visited was really impressive.

Whakatāne Arts has proven its ability in supporting and managing art events, so this would be an ideal body to manage this for the Whakatāne community.
