Letter: Language trends

Elaine McGlinchey

This insidious phrase has been steadily creeping into all forms of communication.

“Thank you for reaching out” makes me cringe every time I see or hear it.

If I am replying to someone who says this, I say, “I didn’t reach out, I phoned/emailed/texted you”.

In the same ilk: “have a conversation”. We need to have a conversation instead of we need to talk.
