Wow so many ad hominem comments in such a short space (Beacon, April 29).
Ann Fletcher, yes, the Labour Government borrowed an awful lot money during Covid namely to keep the country functioning during a world-wide pandemic. The good news is that an estimated 20 thousand lives were saved. The even better news? The National and ACT parties were fully supportive of the action taken at that time. Since the election they have been out there trying to rewrite that bit of history.
As for the Whakatāne obstetric fiasco, if it wasn’t a problem with funding, why did Dana Kirkpatrick, pictured, put out a press release stating that she was going to see the then minister of Health Shane Reti, to get funding re-instated?
