It’s been great to see so many readers of the Beacon engaging with the stories we’ve been raising in recent weeks.
The letters, comments, and follow-up discussions show just how much people care about what’s happening in New Zealand and that our scrutiny of Government decisions really matters.
At the Taxpayers’ Union, our focus is making sure your hard-earned money is being spent wisely by both councils and central government, under our mission of lower taxes, less waste and more accountability.
But we can’t be everywhere at once, and that’s where readers like you can play a crucial role. The people of the Bay of Plenty who can see what’s happening on the ground.
Whether it’s a council or government project that doesn’t make sense, a story you have heard going around your community that the journalists have missed, or just something that you don’t think reasonable.
If you come across something that doesn’t seem right, we want to hear about it. Tip-offs are how we bring important issues to light and hold decision-makers to account.
You can share what you’ve seen, confidentially, at: www.taxpayers.org.nz/tip_line
The more people who speak up, the better chance we have of keeping waste in check and stop more of it happening.
