Whakatāne District Council roading crews are repairing a slip on Rewatu Road putting in a new retaining wall to keep the road safe.

Three-and-a-half-kilometres of the road south of Burr Road is closed with detours in place for the next two months.

The slip occurred last year and more rain in November caused further slippage. The work was scheduled to take place up until April.
