I’m so impressed with the touch tournament.
It was great to see so many people enjoying the sport and also great to see the traffic management that was laid out around the park .
But there was a big “but” at the bottom of the gorge, as I went around the intersection heading into town.
Wow, SUVs parked right up on the footpath, blocking it
No-one could get past them.
Then I tried to go to the harrier club. Same again, parked right up on the foot path. I wouldn’t have been able to open the club door if I tried.
We had a message from one of our members who wanted to get to the club to pick up a child going to a sports event. He was not able to get through to the club but had to get the child’s nan to walk her to him.
Maybe in the future, a touch team should be going around the parks checking so this does not happen again.
Suggestion – a parking space out of town from which there is a free bus into the park running people in and out.
I love sport and help whenever I can, but let’s keep it one rule for all .
It’s a shame that a few spoil it, but I still think it’s a great event.
