Police monitor motorcycle influx in Tāneatua

.

Police responded to an influx of motorcycles in the region over the weekend, with an event taking place in the Tāneatua area.

“Some of the public might have noticed this influx, but rest assured not only were police keeping a close eye on proceedings, but we were liaising with the leaders of that event to make sure a level of compliance, and the public order was maintained,” said Senior Sergeant Cam MacKinnon.

Police reported only minor issues in Tāneatua.

“A small bit of police intervention was sufficient to restore order,” he said.

“When those sorts of events occur with visiting gang groups coming in from out of town, police are keeping an eye on it to make sure the community is safe.”
