Awakeri School enjoyed another successful Ag Day recently, celebrating its strong rural roots with a fun-filled day of animals, creativity, and community spirit.

More than 120 children brought animals to school, showcasing calves, lambs, kids, dogs, and a variety of other pets.

Principal Craig McDonald said the school also held its annual Indoor Show in the Awakeri Event Centre, with amazing displays of children’s artwork, floral arrangements and baking skills.

“We had a very large turnout from our parent and wider community, and generous support from many local and national businesses, which helped make the day possible.”

Notable placings were:

Shane Arrol Memorial Cup for Best Champion Overall Calf: Sophia Power

Hall Cup for Supreme Champion Lamb: Romany Brandford

Burgess Cup for Supreme Champion Kid: Rocco Sisam-Bakalich

Witham Family Trophy for Overall Champion Dog: Macintyre Humphries.
