There’s been a lot of talk – both online and off – about whether the “right” people with the “right” skills made it into their positions. Only time will reveal that truth.
But I’ll say this plainly: If you didn’t vote, you don’t get to moan now.
As imperfect as democracy may be, it remains the strongest expression of freedom in governance that we have today – and I will continue to stand for it, defend it, and work within it every single day.
To everyone who was elected – congratulations and best wishes.
Now let’s live up to our region’s name.
Let’s put the Plenty back into the Bay – in our thinking, our living, our peace, our dignity, our healthcare, and yes, even our economy.
Let’s create a Bay of Plenty that truly flourishes – together.
