Lyndal Kennedy has withdrawn as an election candidate for the Kawerau District Council in the general ward, citing health reasons.

Ms Kennedy said it was with a “heavy heart” that she had withdrawn her name.

“Due to recent health-related issues, I have made the difficult decision to step back to focus fully on my well-being and recovery,” Ms Kennedy said. “Serving our community is something I care deeply about, and this decision was not made lightly. However, I believe it is important to be honest about what I can commit to at this time.”

Ms Kennedy said she wanted to express her gratitude to everyone who supported her campaign.
