One person has died following a crash on Otara Road, Ōpōtiki, this morning.

Emergency services were called to the single vehicle crash involving a truck at about 7.50am.

Police have advised the sole occupant died at the scene and they are providing support to next of kin.

Cordons were up between Clarks Cross Road and Tutaetoko Road. Motorists were asked to avoid the area.

The police serious crash unit is carrying out a scene examination and enquiries into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
