I am amazed that so many drivers do not notice or obey the traffic signs when going from Whakatāne to Ōhope. They are well positioned to help keep people safe.
Often I join friends for a coffee in Ōhope on a Monday morning and this past Monday I was shocked at the number of motorists driving 90 to 100kmh over the hill.
Driving at 60kmh up the hill on my return to Whakatāne, every car behind me had to pass me.
What is the point of having road rules to help keep people safe when so many people just choose to ignore them.
