Letters: Good call to retain 60kmh

.

Deb Woollett

I note Elaine McGlinchey, who wrote a letter regarding the speed limit on Ōhope hill on June 13, resides in Kawerau.

Perhaps she doesn’t drive the Ōhope hill road very often.

She may not personally know people who have ended up off the side of that road and the absolute terror for them and their families.

That piece of road is dangerous driven at excessive speed, and anything above 80kmh is excessive.

If the speed limit is 80kmh you can bet your socks people will do 100kmh.

Even at 60kmh as it is now, drivers will tear past you.

Reverting the speed limit to 80 will result in injury and death. A good call by the council to keep it at 60kmh to reduce the risk.
