In reply to Dave Stewart’s opinion "The language of fear" (Beacon, May 28), before knocking the National coalition Government, one should think carefully about what the alternative would look like.
The Labour coalition government, under the leadership of Jacinda Ardern, took New Zealand backwards at least 30 years and promoted communism, separatism, feminism, gangs, cannabis, and Three Waters. This is the "Language of fear" we should all be worried about if Labour ever got back into power, considering a leopard does not change its spots.
Considering the mess this country was in when the National coalition was voted in, i think they have done a great job so far of cleaning up the mess and fixing the damage Ms Ardern and Chris Hipkins left the country in. I believe we now have a country with accountability - something we did not have with the previous Labour coalition government.
All we hear from Mr Hipkins’ budget is that he will reverse everything back the way things were and has not ruled out a capital gains tax, -death duties tax, wealth tax and inheritance tax and borrowing a lot more money. Considering Labours views are the same as Te Pati Māori and the Greens, we would become a third world country.
