Virtual Eastern Bay Villages’ craft group have created a hand painted quilt that has been raffled to fundraise for the group.
Marj Beauchamp championed the project, suggesting the idea and “hounding” everybody to contribute.
Members hand painted 46 calico squares with designs ranging from fish to flowers, trees and bicycles.
Ana Christian, the group’s “sewing whiz”, then spend a month sewing the squares together.
Virtual East Bay Villages coordinator Kylie Carpenter said it was a great project in which everyone could get involved.
The quilt was raffled off on Wednesday, with all proceeds going back into resources for the arts and crafts group.
Member Jan Stagg contributed multiple squares of artistry including fish with no tails, and a red bicycle.
“Everyone laughed at me, and said ‘Why do you want to paint a bike?’, but there it is,” she said.
She said she did not want flowers in the bike’s basket, and one morning while she was away, Ms Beauchamp painted a little brown dog in the basket instead.
The project has been months in the making, with the original Christmas deadline extending into this year.
Anyone wanting to join the craft group can go along to the Knox Presbyterian Church on Tuesday mornings, from 10.30am
