Cuts stop short

David Seymour is correct in stating there are far too many ministerial portfolios, many of the nonsense variety.

However, he does not go far enough.  There is no earthly reason to have more than 60 MPs in total, with a minimum of 10 percent threshold of party vote to allow fringe groups to gain access to parliament.

The waka jumping laws should be revisited to ensure list MPs, once divorced from their party’s philosophy, can be removed without compensation and be replaced by those next on their list.

Chauffeur driven cars are an unnecessary extravagance as any MP without a full licence can hardly claim to have an intellectual quotient to adequately judge and decipher complex legislation.

There you go, problem sorted.
