May I congratulate Te Puna Ora o Mataatua for organising the much-needed free community event STAY, a Suicide wananga with the kaupapa of seeking feedback from anyone and everyone on improving suicide prevention, intervention and prevention, last Friday at the scenic Heads in Whakatāne.

Seldom have I attended such a well-run, enlightening, inclusive and informative workshop on this sensitive topic.

The manaakitanga, caring and respect shown to all those choosing to attend was inspiring and gives hope to all affected by the despairingly high rates of suicide in Aotearoa.

Te Puna Ora o Mataatua is to be commended for facing these issues head on and for seeking proactive consultation.

The agency is a huge asset to our community with a dedicated team of kaimahi who go above and beyond for all, regardless of cultural heritage.
