Farming Like Grandad is back tomorrow, with loads in store to keep children, parents and grandparents having farming fun.
The event, to be held at Racecourse Park at Te Teko, will start at 10am, with activities running until 4pm.
Farming Like Grandad co-chair Stephanie Johnson Bull is expecting an exciting day.
“The best thing I can say is come along and have a look,” she said.
Anyone wanting to enter the produce competition can bring their entries before 12pm. There are categories for root vegetables, pumpkins, cauliflower and broccoli.
Cut flowers – with vases available onsite – chutney and jam, chocolate chip biscuits, uncooked slice, fruit pie and fruit loaf will also be judged.
There will be children’s facepainting, games and competitions for the best dressed scarecrow and best pumpkin lantern, along with live demonstrations of farming equipment, and vintage and modern tractors on display.
The Junior Pony Club is holding a fun day starting at 9.35am for novice riders.
Market stalls and food trucks will be available, as well as Clydesdale and tractor-pulled wagons.
There will be sheep shearing and beekeeping demonstrations, the annual Axe Men competition, and a new addition to the event, a display of Indian motorcycles.
Fibrecrafters will be demonstrating spinning, weaving, knitting and other craft skills, with felting a new addition to their regular repertoire.
Ms Johnson Bull said they had some “amazing” sponsors, to which they were very grateful.
