Whakatāne Camera Club members are thrilled to have their biggest selection of images chosen for a national exhibition.

Fifteen images from six club members have been selected for the 2025 Sony National Exhibition, a national competition run by the Photographic Society of New Zealand.

The competition received 1156 submissions from 167 individuals, and 118 print images and 205 digital images were accepted for display at the 2025 PSNZ National Convention, which is being held in Nelson from May 1-4.

Waverley Klein Ovink, president of the Whakatāne Camera Club, said the exhibition includes two sections – Nature and Open – and these included sections for digital and print.

“Our strongest category was Nature Digital with 11 images. We also had three in Open Digital, and one in Nature Print.”

Here, the Beacon showcases a selection of the images in the exhibition by members Mandy Hague, Paula Vigus, Klein Ovink, Maree Wills, Vicki Knight and Brian Milner.
