A smorgasbord of delicious events are on the menu during the Flavours Bay of Plenty Festival, kicking off later this month.
The festival – from March 27-April 13 – takes place across the Bay of Plenty and includes several events in the Eastern Bay.
The Big Fat Greek Cypriot Feast is already sold out – and its host, Caterina Murphy, of YiaYia’s Little Kitchen, cannot be more delighted.
To be held at Awakaponga Hall, Murphy said: “I’ll be cooking lunch for 50 and it is all vegetarian, a variety of dishes mezze style, and the strong theme of the lunch is “narratives” so we will have some music, and everyone will be getting up to do some dancing and learning a bit of language.
“It is casual rustic food like eating in the street in a Cypriot village. I really hope people arrive with their bottle of wine and ready to embrace Greek Cypriot food and do some dancing.”

* The Wandering Kitchens at Cadera – A fun food truck fiesta where local food vendors come together to offer a mouthwatering selection of dishes. From 4pm-8.30pm at Cadera, Sunday, March 30.
* Scales and Ales – Indulge in a four-course dinner, each course paired with craft beers sourced from the region. On at Fisherman’s Wharf Cafe, 5.30pm-10pm, Saturday, April 5.
* Tamariki Foodie Fair – The ultimate foodie event for children, offering fun, sensory experiences such as blind tasting, nut cracking, face painting, stilt walkers and food demonstrations for kids by kids. On at Ōhope Wharfside, 10am-1pm, Saturday, April 5.
* Late Summer Farm Kitchen – A farm-to-table experience with a long summer lunch. It is part workshop, part cooking class and part indulgent feast. On at The Run 15 in Matatā, from 1pm-6pm on Saturday, April 5.
* Cray Tails and Cocktails promises an evening of relaxation and fun alongside the harbour. It takes place at Fisherman’s Wharf Cafe, 7pm-10pm on April 12.
* A Taste of Wainui Marketplace – Debut Wainui Producers Market, held in the picturesque Waingarara Valley, and showcasing the region’s best food producers. At Waingarara Valley Events Venue, 12pm-3pm, Saturday, April 12.
* Discover Wainui’s Food Secrets Tour – Exclusive food tour through Wainui, from the oyster farms of Ōhiwa Harbour, to the unlikely truffle success story, the artistry of gin distillers, tea merchants, and olive oil makers. The tour culminates at the inaugural Wainui Producers Market. 10am-2.30pm, Saturday April 12.
