The Grey Power grumblers have been in a real pickle over the Hikoi for Health.
Healthcare is something they care about and if Victor Luca had organised it, they’d be crowing about what a great mayor he is.
Sadly, working with the community is not his thing so instead they’ve had to pretend his 'virtual health conference' with 172 views is big news.
I didn’t go to the hikoi, but I saw it on TV One news. What a great turn out. Well done to all the organisers. I reckon it would have put a rocket up the Ministry of Health, and I await further announcements from them with interest.
Not Sandy Milne, though. After trying to discourage people from attending and threatening to protest the protest, even he had to admit there were a lot of people. That didn’t stop him from telling everyone in his latest letter that it was a waste of time.
Suzanne Williams’ ine her letter said she thought that the hikoi was a great success but she also couldn’t get over that it was organised by Nandor Tanczos and friends.
How dare a councillor support the community? In an election year to boot.
If Mr Tanczos did manage to pull a coalition of organisers together and mobilise 1000 people to protest the downgrading of local hospital services as an election stunt, can we have more stunts like that please?
It seems to have already yielded results, and it makes a nice change to have politicians doing something real instead of more hot air.
I don’t know if Mr Tanczos is running for Mayor, and if he is I’m still deciding if he is the right man for the job.
There are a few things I’m not sure about, but he does know how things work in the world of politics, and he knows how to get things done.
That would make a nice change from what we have now.
