The Eastern Bay Community Foundation is hosting an inspiring local event featuring Tawera Nikau, one of New Zealand’s most celebrated rugby league internationals.

It will be held on Friday, February 28 at 7pm at the Awakeri Event Centre, and promises to be a night of empowerment, personal reflection, and community support.

As well as being a fundraiser for the community foundation, the aim is to help the community talk about mental health, mental strength and adversity.

Mr Nikau’s journey is one of overcoming adversity, mental strength, and leadership.

He has faced significant life challenges, both on and off the field, and has emerged as a true example of resilience and strength.

His story is one of triumph in the face of life’s toughest moments and provides invaluable lessons for anyone looking to grow through adversity.

Along with the motivational speech from Mr Nikau, there will be finger food, and a dessert bar included, and a cash bar will be available for drinks

Tickets are available for $40, with all proceeds going back to support the local community through the Eastern Bay Community Foundation.

Trustee and event organiser Grant Lowe expects it to be an extraordinary evening.

“You will be inspired by Tawera’s life story and the collective power of our community. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to hear from one of New Zealand’s sporting greats.
