Ohope Beach Lions

The Lions Club of Ōhope Beach wishes to thank the local communities and out-of-town visitors for strongly supporting our Annual Book Fair, held earlier this month.

We are very grateful for all the donations of books – everything from early children classics such as AA Milne to the latest women’s fiction by Lucinda Riley, and everything in between.

We wish to acknowledge the large quantity of children’s books gifted from Awakeri School and also a generous quantity from Quota Ōpōtiki.

By the using the Ōhope Community Hall, we were able to display a vast variety of books, which is only possible with a grant from the Whakatāne Ōhope Beach Community Board.

We thank the board and district council for the use of the facilities and know that several of our book buyers now have the date marked in their calendar, when visiting the Eastern Bay at this time for the year.

The funds raised will be targeted at providing financial assistance towards tertiary studies, for students in need  from the local high schools.
