Another successful Slim’s Bar Family Fishing Competition was held last weekend, with 220 anglers entered ranging from children to adults.
From Thursday until Sunday, families could join the competition by boat casting or surfcasting for a chance to win a share of $3000 in cash prizes and $10,000 in spot prizes.
Slims Bar owner Slim McCallion said it was a “good year” for the competition.
“In excess of 500 fish were caught and weighed,” he said.
“The conditions were good, everyone got out on the water every day. We were weighing every day, and there were spot prizes every night.”
The competition culminated with a prizegiving on Sunday night, with a free barbeque available for all competitors.
“A big, big thank you to our local sponsors who jump on board this event every year,” McCallion said.
