Come along and enjoy performances by Eastern Bay musicians at the Local Musicians Showcase this weekend.

This will be Music Whakatāne’s last concert for the year, and it is on tomorrow night at the Church of St George and St John at 7.30pm.

This year, its popular Young Performers' concert for secondary school students is being combined with the Local Artists’ concert for adult musicians.

The event on Saturday evening will be a very varied programme, featuring two jazz bands, a saxophone trio, a brass duo, and several solo singers and instrumentalists.

Many talented performers will take to the stage:

*  National Junior Cornet Champion Ethan Oram.

*  Pianist Helen Kear-Eveleens leading a jazz group.

*  Joshua Reid, a member of the EBOPers Jazz Band and Trident High School Big Band.

* Multi-saxophonist Tom Bayliss, who is also lead clarinet in the Rotorua Symphonic Band and the Whakatāne Community Orchestra.

* Pikake McGarvey and Brooke Hamill on saxophones.

* Classical guitarist Rhys Bugden.

* Pianist Noriko Yamamoto.

Tickets are available only at the door and cash is preferred. Adults are $15 and under-18s free. Doors will open at 7pm.
