I would like to congratulate Mike Fletcher on his excellent letter in last week’s Ōpōtiki News in support of the police force’s actions in the recent raids in Ōpōtiki, “Police cop unwarranted flak over arrests”.

He was spot-on in my view. The police do, indeed, deserve our support. The person who doesn’t deserve any commendation is Rawiri Waititi, the co-leader of the Māori Party, who has labelled the raids as “state-sponsored terrorism”.

That is both ridiculous and irresponsible.
