In reply to Dave Stewart’s comments (Beacon, November 8), it was never my intention to turn this debate into a racial diatribe.

In fact, I am sure no mention of race, gender, religion etc was mentioned.  

I was merely pointing out that we have not the financial resources to satisfy all the demands on the public purse.  

As you espoused, the problems could be solved by borrowing more money, which with all due respect is indictive of an empty wallet.

Add to that, there is no free lunch, except for some education facilities, and all these accrued debts must at some time be repaid.  

What then?
