Whakatāne's St Joseph’s School all joined in the fun at this year’s athletics day last week.

Students from new entrants to year 8s all had a turn at the field events.

Shotput, discus, and vortex were popular sport, as well as house relays included in the running competition.

Two students said the day was “so much fun”, and the crowd favourite sports were long jump and high jump.

The event had several helpers from Trident High School’s year 10 leadership class.
