Judging by comments in the ŌpōtikiNews and elsewhere the police are in the gun for the way people allegedly dealing in drugs in Ōpōtiki were arrested.
Views have been advanced that the officers were out of order by raiding homes and arresting alleged offenders in front of children.
Hopefully this misguided view is not widespread.
Otherwise it has the potential to fester; to become more ammunition for the wokes - and the separatists who see our society and the legal system in particular as an intrusion.
That some children were caught up in the arrests is awfully sad. And suggests more help for some families is warranted.
But the protest voice should not be using children in their argument.
Nor should the police cop flak for doing their job.
We should be celebrating this drug bust. And hoping more will take place. Despite a crazy view that future raids will be blocked.
