An Evening with Paul Ubana Jones
SWISS-ENGLISH musician Paul Ubana Jones is set to kick off his highly anticipated tour in Ōpōtiki. The legendary artist will perform at the Senior Citizens Hall on King Street on Saturday, November 2, as part of a nine-venue tour.
Renowned for his blend of blues, rock, folk, and jazz, Ubana Jones has dedicated his life to music, performing and touring worldwide. With a discography that includes eight albums, his artistry continues to resonate with fans around the globe.
In the 1980s, he spent much of his time living and performing in Switzerland while also touring Europe, Canada, and the United States. In 1987, he made the move to New Zealand with his family and has since become a prominent figure in the music scene, regularly performing in New Zealand, Australia, and internationally.
Throughout his career, he has shared the stage with notable artists such as Taj Mahal, Keb Mo, Norah Jones, Bob Dylan, Tuck and Patti, and Crowded House, to name just a few.
His festival appearances have included the Dublin Blues Festival, Byron Bay Blues Festival, Vancouver Island Folk Festival, Blues at Bridgetown, and many more across Europe.
He has been recognised for his talent, winning three prestigious New Zealand Music Awards.
The concert is being brought to Opotiki by the committee of the Senior Citizens Hall, which is keen to bring more events of this nature to town.
“A group of us have sort of taken it upon ourselves to organise and promote live music at the Senior Citizens Hall in Ōpōtiki and this is one of our first big events,” said Ross Palmer.
