Letter: Fireworks courtesy sought

I RECENTLY posted on a Whakatāne Community Facebook page my annoyance about fireworks being let off even before this year’s go on sale, and my annoyance about the continued random use at random hours and weeks after November 5.

Overall, most of the respondents agreed with what my post was about.

But there were a few that thought that anyone who agreed with me was trying to suppress their rights to buy and enjoy using fireworks.

I love a good firework show for one or two nights.

But when fireworks are set off at random times at “silly o’clock” hours that stress out my pet, that really annoys me.

I don’t want to ban fireworks; I just want certain people to think about their neighbours.

But I guess the people who set them off at stupid hours of the night and at random times of the year just don’t care.
