THREE people are facing charges of aggravated robbery and burglary after separate incidents this week.

A 33-year-old man has been charged with aggravated robbery after he entered a Kawerau dairy with a machete and demanded property.

Whakatāne senior sergeant Helen Hay said quick attendance by Whakatāne, Kawerau and Tauranga police staff ensured the quick capture of the offender.

The victim escaped physical injury and has since been reunited with his belongings.

“He was not injured physically, but mentally it has an impact on our retailers when they are faced with a person with a machete.”

Another 33-year-old man is facing a burglary charge in Ōpōtiki District Court this week after being caught in a private dwelling on Sunday.

Police also arrested a 28-year-old woman and charged her with burglary after she broke into a house.
