Views in Time and Fired Fusion
TWO new exhibitions by members of the Whakatāne Society of Arts and Crafts are opening at Te Kōputu, Whakatāne’s library and gallery space, this weekend.
Art quilters Caroline Stewart, Jan Elrick, Katrina Allison, Margaret McKerras, Mary Transom, Pauline Dennis, Peggy Cayton, and Phillipa Crocker showcase textile works in Views in Time: An exhibition of conscious perception.
Their works invite viewers to reflect on time as a continuum, constantly shifting and shaping our lives.
Each draw from their distinct personal experiences, interpreting the concept of time, and capturing its dynamic nature and the fluidity between past, present, and future.
Joining the quilters are the Whakatāne Potters, with their exhibition Fired Fusion.
This vibrant community of five groups is dedicated to both the art of pottery and the personal growth of its members ... where each ceramic creation reflects individual styles and celebrates the camaraderie, collaboration and creativity that thrives within the group.
