TITOKI Christian Healing Centre is warming up for an exciting second half of the year with a range of courses, retreats, healing and weddings on the cards.
The centre offers respite and opportunity for emotional and physical healing, prayer ministry and counselling, with accommodation and beautiful grounds to explore.
Run by a mix of full-time and part-time volunteers and staff, Titoki Christian Healing Centre regularly holds courses and seminars for anyone interested in learning more about themselves, their faith, a craft or spirituality.
Volunteer and prayer minister Monique Wells said the centre provided short and long-term rest.
“You need a break from the world sometimes,” she said.
For longer-term visitors, there are self-catered cottages available.
Recent workshop Thinking Matters at the beginning of August was well attended, consisting of a two-day apologetics seminar run by Kevin Treadwell to help people understand the questions surrounding Christianity.
The Living Well seminar takes place on November 2, a mental wellbeing course offering techniques and tools from a biblically based perspective to improve emotional resilience.
“It gives people tools to cope, because life gets life-y,” Ms Wells said.
The Whakatāne Christian Writers’ Group’s Writing Mini Retreat follows on November 15 and 16, for anyone on the scale of feeling like they want to write a book through to published authors.
All upcoming courses can be seen on the centre’s website.
Administrator and counsellor Jules Ford said people all from over the North Island travelled to Titoki to stay at the healing centre, and they run events for the local community.
Ms Wells is a registered counsellor and is passionate about offering accessible services to people who need healing.
“It’s important to us at Titoki to have trained, experienced people working with our guests”
She said this goes for the centre’s prayer ministers as well. People can book in for one-on-one sessions throughout the week or pop out to the Wednesday chapel service.
Healing Rooms prayer ministry is also available by appointment on Thursdays – these can be booked through phone or email.
The flourishing grounds and gardens are also available as a wedding venue for smaller and intimate ceremonies.
Ms Wells said they want to support marriage and not load debt onto newlyweds.
“These are people who love each other and want to commit. We want to support that by offering an affordable venue,” she said.
Anyone wanting to support the healing centre can do so through volunteering.
“We’re looking for more volunteers. Anyone who loves gardening, cooking, cleaning or maintenance would be welcome to have the benefit of joining us in this beautiful place.”
