The colourful, fun “Chairs” exhibition is drawing about 50 people a day to the Art Society Hall in King Street.

Chair artworks from across the Ōpōtiki and Whakatāne districts make up the exhibition, which opened on Saturday and continues until September 8.

“It’s fun to have something totally different and outside the square,” said Ōpōtiki Arts Society chair Dot Wilson

“We have wooden chairs, pottery chairs, paintings of chairs – new and old.”

Inspiration for the exhibition came from Italy where Mrs Wilson saw a similar exhibition while travelling and thought it would be a good fit for Ōpōtiki.

The exhibition is open between 10am and 3pm.
