Rugby assist opens for applications

COMMUNITY rugby clubs across Aotearoa once again have the chance to apply for support with club upgrades as applications open for Bunnings Rugby Assist.

Launched in 2021 in partnership with New Zealand Rugby, Bunnings Rugby Assist is an annual programme designed to help community rugby clubs upgrade and maintain facilities that are vital to their operation. Since its first year, 40 clubs have been assisted with a share of $900,000 of Bunnings’ products and materials and labour support. Ten clubs will be selected to each receive $30,000 worth of support to improve their club.

NZR general manager of community rugby Steve Lancaster said: “We’re pleased to have the support of Bunnings Rugby Assist to help rugby clubs all over Aotearoa.

“These clubs serve their communities week in and week out – supporting the next generation of players and providing a safe and inclusive environment so everyone can enjoy the game we love.

“We know grassroots rugby clubs are so often the heart of communities across Aotearoa and play an important role in bringing people together and fostering the game,” said Deb Perano, head of store operations at Bunnings New Zealand.

“We encourage eligible clubs to apply and share the wonderful support they provide, so that we can help another 10 clubs do even more for their communities.”
