Fiona Cosgrove, a renowned blues, soul, and jazz singer, has just released her debut album, and she is thrilled to bring its music back to the Bay of Plenty.

Her 10-track album, titled Introspective, features original music that seamlessly blends her blues roots with elements of funk, soul, and jazz. This authentic and heartfelt collection takes listeners on a reflective journey filled with soulful melodies, and unapologetic honesty.

“It’s funky and soulful with a bit of jazziness in places, a fusion of all these elements,” Cosgrove said.

Cosgrove is set to perform three shows in July, starting in her hometown of Whakatāne on July 12, followed by performances in Tauranga on July 13 and Auckland on July 20.

Having performed for years, Cosgrove is ecstatic to finally release her album.

“I was fortunate to collaborate with a fantastic producer in Auckland, Scott Seabright.

“We spent about 18 months recording demos and working with session musicians.

“I finished the album just three weeks ago, and my big dream is to perform at larger blues festivals like Byron Bay in Australia.

“I love performing and would love to grace those stages,” she said.

Her shows will feature a seven-piece band comprised of some of New Zealand’s finest musicians.

“They’re all incredible musicians, and I’m really lucky to have them.

“My guitarist, Tim Vaughan, who has been playing with me for a few years, is absolutely incredible and is also featured on the album.”

Cosgrove initially made her mark as a blues singer, fronting various bands such as Feenix and The Holy Pocket.

She has captivated audiences at many of New Zealand’s blues festivals with her powerful voice and innate charisma.
